Overview

Registered Nurge administers nursing care to assigned patients that is in accordance with ANA standards, the NJ Practice Act, Joint Commission and established hospital and Nursing Department policy and procedures.

  • Assists physician by monitoring patients during cardiac testing procedures.
  • Recognizes adverse reactions to medications and takes immediate and appropriate actions.
  • Recognizes changes in patient condition and/or emergencies situations and takes immediate and appropriate actions.
  • Introduces plan for healthy lifestyle changes.
  • Educates patient in cardiac disease process and introduces cardiac rehab recovery plan

 

Rotational on-call weekends required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains a complete nursing history and baseline assessment that is systematic, consistent, and continuous. This assessment is communicatedeffectively and documented.
  • Appropriately analyzes health status data to determine nursing diagnosis and needs for appropriate nursing care, medical intervention or services ofother clinical professionals.
  • Identifies patient problems and formulates nursing diagnosis according to physical, psychological, spiritual/cultural and educational needs inconjunction with a multi disciplinary approach.
  • Consistently includes patient and family in the development of an individualized plan of care.
  • Administers medications as needed following CSHS policies and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Takes immediate and appropriate actions in the event of a medication variance occurrence.
  • Maintains and upgrades own nursing practice and development.
  • Recognizes adverse reactions to medications and takes immediate and appropriate actions.
  • Recognizes changes in patient condition and/or emergencies situations and takes immediate and appropriate actions.
  • Participates in unit conferences to discuss quality issues and quality improvement strategies.
  • Delegates components of care to non-professional caregivers as appropriate.
  • Delegates components of care to non-professional caregivers as appropriate.
  • Makes decisions that demonstrated knowledge of nursing practice; utilizes sound nursing judgment in clinical and patient care management situations.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills in the care of patients and in the coordination of care to assure the achievement of maximum outcome
  • Provides appropriate interventions for pain.
  • Documents pain assessment, intervention and reassessment.
  • Notifies physician for unrelieved pain as indicated.
  • Provides patient/family education regarding cardiac risk factors.
  • Introduces plan for healthy lifestyle changes.
  • Educates patient in cardiac disease process and introduces cardiac rehab recovery plan.
  • Leads unit conferences to discuss quality issues and quality improvement strategies.
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the cardiac rehabilitation and coverage as needed for cardiac diagnostic coordinator.
  • Assures assignments are made in a timely and equitable manner.
  • Consistently promotes teamwork within the department and organization.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities data collection in alignment with national organizational standards.
  • Manages the Cardiac Rehabilitation accreditation process.
  • Responds to emergencies in the department.
  • Ensures department meets Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
  • Identifies external and internal customer needs and expectations and responds to them in a timely and effective manner.
  • Establishes and implements standards of care based on evidenced-based nursing practice and evaluates patient care through the application of thenursing process and compares the delivery of the care to the established standard.
  • Acts as a change agent and role model to improve nursing practice.

Qualifications

  • BSN required
  • Two years experience in telemetry or critical care required. Experience in emergency care considered
  • RN License / New Jersey required
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required
  • Specialty certification in cardiac rehab required or ust obtain specialty certification in cardiac rehab within two (2) years of obtaining the position
