The Cancer Registrar is responsible for completing all duties associated with Abstracting, Suspense, Follow-up and Case-finding as directed by the Coordinator. Performs various duties as a supportive function to the Coordinator
Education:
NCRA-Accredited Associate Degree Program Required OR
NCRA-Accredited Formal Education Certificate Program Required.
Successful completion of 160 hours of work practicum in a CTR-staffed Cancer Registry (may be part of a NCRA-approved program curriculum) AND successful completion of an NCRA-Accredited Associate Degree Program. OR successful completion of an NCRA-Accredited Formal Education Certificate Program AND successful completion of a minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent (60 college-level credits).
Work Experience:
Three (3) years of tumor registry experience is required.
Licenses and Certifications:
Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) required.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint is strongly preferred. Knowledge and experience in computerized data entry. Precis cancer registry software working experience preferred. Detail oriented. Ability to work independently and take direction, when necessary. Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.
