Overview

Performs mammography examinations and related breast special procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. Responsible
for mentoring and training students in a cooperative learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for examination.
  • Utilizes correct positioning techniques and recognizes need for special views.
  • Utilizes special knowledge and skills to produce mammograms of optimal diagnostic quality with minimal radiation exposure to patients.
  • Utilizes special knowledge and skills to perform Bone Densitometry with precision and accuracy.
  • Utilizes special knowledge and skills to perform breast special procedures with minimal radiation exposure to patient and maintaining proper sterile technique.
  • Maintains quality control and quality assurance for mammography according to established standards including monitoring all other mammography technologists' credentials.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalency plus formal radiologic technology training at an AMA approved school
  • Previous experience preferred
  • State license, ARRT, and Certification in Mammography required
  • BLS certification required
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team
