Responsibilities

The Clinical Leader will  be responsible for both TJC/Ortho and Oncology units. Works within the department and as a part of the CentraState management team to operationalize the patient care and service goals and objectives established by senior management.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating culturally sensitive patient care from pre-admission to post discharge by managing, coordinating and monitoring resources to achieve optimal clinical outcomes, resource utilization and quality service. 
  • Assisting the Nurse Manager in planning and supervising the overall operation of the assigned nursing unit on a 24-hour basis.
  • Functioning as a clinical resource and educator to unit/department staff members in area of expertise. 
  • Conducting unit conferences to discuss quality issues and quality improvement strategies.
  • Providing or coordinating in-services to staff six times per year or as needed to address unit specific needs.
  • Developing new clinical pathways, monitoring patient progress on current clinical pathways, reviews variances with Patient Care Reviewers, reviews variances from Quality Management with Nurse Manager, staff and reporting to Nursing Quality Council.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in NJ.

BSN required.

A Masters in Nursing is required or must obtain Masters within 3 years from date of hire (or internal transfer) as a condition of employment.

 

Minimum Work Experience

Minimum three to five years related nursing experience required; previous supervisory experience preferred.

 

Required Licenses/Certifications

Registered Nurse with current NJ license. An APN, CNS, or CNL is required. Completion of the specialty specific pharmacology test is required. American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support is required. Specialty credentialing required as an APN and CSMC IV Certification, CPR, National

Certification, as well as any requirements pertaining to specialty area.

Physical Demands

Standing; walking; typing; filing; reaching at or below waist, above shoulder; lifting/pushing/pulling up to and greater than 40 pounds; bending; climbing; kneeling; stooping.
