Performs routine laboratory procedures using computerized instrumentation and manual methods. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the laboratory section/shift.


Duties include:

  • Performs laboratory testing of blood and body fluid specimens using automated analyzers, as well as manual methods, accurately and according to lab procedure manuals.
  • Reports tests accurately, within timed guidelines, and according to lab procedure manuals.
  • Verifies critical results and follows critical value policy, including proper documentation.
  • Enters lab results into computer system.
  • Maintains Laboratory instrumentation according to manufacturer's operation manuals and lab procedure manuals.
  • Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate steps to correct problems.


  • Medical Laboratory Technology Associate Degree in Applies Science (A.A.S.) required or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology including internship required (MT).
  • Previous laboratory experience required.
  • ASCP, HEW or NCA registration preferred.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.

Standing; walkding; typing; filing; reaching at waist; Sitting; Kneeling; Stooping; Lifting/pushing or pulling up to and greater than 10 pounds; reaching below waist and above shoulder; Bending; Climbing.
