Responsibilities

Assesses and monitors patient condition while patient is in Cardiology Department.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Controlling all medications par levels and controlled drugs in the Cardiology Department.
  • Documenting results of patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care plan and patient progress in medical record.
  • Starting and monitoring IVs and solutions following nursing department policies and procedures.
  • Supervising and directing the nursing staff in the administration of their programs and activities.
  • Planning and assigning the work schedule for the Cardiology nurses and clinical staff.
  • Functioning as a clinical liaison to Nurse Executive via participation in Nursing Leadership Committee and Magnet.
  • Participating in the ongoing evaluation of department educational programs and ongoing performance improvement initiatives.
  • Provides department oversight in absence of director.

Qualifications

  • BSN required.
  • Current NJ RN license required.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Two years nursing experience in telemetry required.
  • Two years nursing experience in critical care or emergency care preferred.
  • IV therapy certification required.

 

Physical Demands

Standing/walking; sitting; typing/filing; bending/climbing; kneeling/stooping; reaching above shoulder/below or at waist; lifting/pushing/pulling up to 40 pounds.
