Responsibilities

The Nurse Manager will be responsible for two observation (telemetry) units with 6 and 12 beds, respectively. The ideal Nurse Manager will possess leadership abilities to manage staff in complying with care maps, identifying issues and lead resolutions teams. Additionally, the Nurse Manager will be tasked with decreasing Observation throughput to approximately 200 minutes. Nurse Manager must be able to recruit, hire and retain clinical staff. Strong knowledge base of case management is preferred.

 

Under direction of the Vice President of Nursing, plans, directs and supervises the overall operation of the Observation nursing units. Maintains 24-hour responsibility. Works within the department and as a part of CentraState's management team to operationalize the patient care and service goals and objectives established by senior management. Provides, evaluates and
maintains quality of patient care in accordance with current policies and procedures, ANA Standards, the NJ Nurse Practice Act and NJ Practical Nurse Act, Joint Commission, NJ Department of Health and Senior Services, and Specialty Organizations incorporating evidence based practice.

 

Facilitates patient care from placement into observation to discharge by managing, coordinating, and monitoring resources to achieve optimal financial outcomes, resource utilization and quality service.

 

Supervises Clinical Leader, RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and unit secretaries.

Qualifications

  • BSN and MSN required.
  • Current NJ RN license required.
  • National nursing certifications consistent with the nature of care required within one year of hire.
  • BLS required.
  • At least three (3) years nursing experience required.
  • Previous supervisory experience needed.
  • Two years of case management experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of utilization, quality improvement and case management required.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively related with all members of the healthcare team.

Sitting; typing/filing; standing/walking; reaching at or below waist/above shoulder; bending/climbing; stooping/kneeling; lifting up to 40 pounds.
