  • Overview

    The Corporate Director Materials Management plans, directs and supervises overall operations of the Materials Management functions of CentraState Healthcare System. Responsibilities include purchasing, warehouse, copy center, mailroom and records retention program.

     

    The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a Master’s Degree preferred, have three years of hospital purchasing and materials management supervisory experience, be a highly motivated professional with strong materials management background in a healthcare setting.  Candidate must be able to provide solid leadership, be able to analyze existing operations for implementation of strategies and procedures to improve departmental performance. They should also be able to troubleshoot issues, be well organized, dependable, and have the ability to multitask.  Skills should include: vendor relations, contract negotiation, cost savings initiatives, inventory control, team building, and budget management.

    Responsibilities

    • Establishes standards and controls for all purchases for the CSHS and monitors such activities to assure compliance.
    • Ensures that the materials management departmental practices comply with the guidelines of prudent buying concepts and best ethical standards.
    • Ensures the timely flow of materials from acquisition through disposition.
    • Obtains competitive bids on Capital Equipment and other products and services in compliance with CSHS policies.
    • Identifies and implements cost containment opportunities.
    • Supports and insures compliance with Group Purchasing Organizations.
    • Meets with appropriate administrative and professional staff to assure optimal provision of service. Identifies and implements changes to programs and activities that are not functioning optimally.
    • Communicates with external customers and regulatory agencies as required with a high degree of tact and professional discretion.
    • Participates in divisional and system wide initiatives by providing advice and counsel in areas of expertise.
    • Ensures optimal utilization of the Materials Management Information system(s).

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Business required.

    Master’s Degree preferred.

     

    Work Experience:

    Three years of Hospital Purchasing And Materials Management Supervisory experience required.

     

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

    Knowledge of medical terminology desired

    Normal office environment with frequent visits to locations across the System and off-site.
